According to the Mail & Guardian, tech-savvy teens in Japan are called "oyayubi sedai," which means the "thumb generation." They use their thumbs so often to type on their cell phones that they have begun to use their thumbs for activities that in the past have been performed by index fingers. For example, the thumb generation now points and presses buzzers using their thumbs.
This is a fun example of how technology shapes culture and our way of life. In ministry, it is important that we are aware of how technology is changing the way people interact with each other and the world. As technology evolves, the old way of doing things can become obsolete rather quickly.
